It rained!

The last few days were really hot and today seemed to be no different. But around lunch time clouds appeared out of no where and within an hour it started raining. Its still raining as I write this post (11 pm).

Bored at work

Stuck at work on a Saturday night is pretty boring, here's my attempt to make the best of it.

I've tried to photograph the kitchen area of my office using the reflection off a bell. The time is 10 pm and I have turned off the overhead lights to avoid overexposure.

The interesting thing is that the reflection on the bell covers about a 270 degree view which I could never have captured otherwise. I think I just found myself a cheap fish-eye lens :)

I dont know what this flower is called, its very small (about 1 cm in diameter) is size and grows on grass.

Walking through Chinatown

Traffic gets stalled quite often in the narrow streets of chinatown. Here's a black & white version of the same photograph

The triangular building is the Wells Fargo building in the Financial district of downtown San Francisco. You can also see the Bay and part of the Bay-bridge at the end of the street.

The Pakistani Student Association (PSA) at San Jose State University (SJSU) organized a cultural event on Saturday April 23rd, 2005.

The name of this young man is Harris and he performed really well that night, his family was sitting right behind me and they were all cheering for him at the top of their lungs :)

SF geometry

My mother gave me a set of wooden blocks when I was in school, they were geometrical shapes in 3D. I used to spend whole afternoons trying to build a perfect skyline using those blocks, plasticene and some matchsticks.

Standing at the intersection of Powell and California street the memory of those fun moments flashed before my eyes once again :)

There is a row of bare naked trees on one side of California street while lush green on the other. I guess I like the way this couple was running on the barren side of the road, it shows commitment and a fighting spirit.

I am too tired to pick a better title right now, this picture is not as sharp as the other pictures because I found a picture-within-a-picture which was better than the original picture I took. So the camera settings are not what they should have been for this kind of photograph.

A different stroke

I always thought of sky as a big blue canvas with clouds as brush strokes and stars as glitter.
(I used a circular polarizer filter with exposure compensation value -0.5 to get the sky deep blue)

San Disk-o-naut


My new USB flash memory drive looks like an astronaut! :)

(I shot the picture against a wallpaper on my monitor, the color temperature was adjusted to create a blue tone on the drive's body. The light source was standard office overhead tube-lights. The camera mode was set to 'macro')

San Francisco airport has a very interesting collection of spectacles on display these days. I snapped away a few pictures quickly without drawing attention to myself :)

Duck orientation

Lake Elizabeth in Fremont is where most local kids get their first introduction with the little furry creatures we so adoringly refer to as ducks.

Every weekend I see many little ones trying to either chase, pet or feed ducks. Some kids are shy at first, hiding behind their parent's legs when a duck comes close, others try to scare and then chase the ducks off. This family was encouraging their daughters to feed the ducks. You can also see a little asian baby in the back watching the whole thing with great interest :)

Finally caught myself a model!
