Icebreakers

Icebreakers liquid ice (small liquid mint, brand name "Icebreakers") on a compact disk. This was a test for how shallow I can get the depth of field to be with a tripod.

Infrared, in-fer-a-surprise ;)

This is my first attempt at Infrared (thermal) photography, its not perfect because it looked much better in the camera's viewfinder than it actually turned out in the end. Here's an infrared photography FAQ

Everything white is glowing because of heat, I took this picture at 6 pm in sunlight.

This morning after leaving my car at the workshop for an oil change I strolled around aimlessly, you have to get to the workshop before 8 am if you don't like to wait. Anyways, these flowers were along the side road and almost all of them were in the same blooming stage (as if they were cloned or something). Giuvic suggested a brilliant title for this post:
"hey, little flowers!
wake up! the breakfast is ready!

I pass these flowers everyday as I enter the parking lot at work. After remaining wrapped up like a newborn baby in a blanket for days, they have finally decided to come out and look at the world around them :)

I had a bad day, things just kept falling apart one after the other. Towards the end of the day as I was going home I saw these bright yellow flowers soaking in the rain, and they sort of made up for the day :)

Joining the Dark side



I finally received my Dell Axim X30 Advanced Wireless PDA today, it needs to be charged for 8 hours before I can use it. I can't wait! so I took a couple of photographs while it was hooked on the cradle getting charged :)

The power button in the above photograph is on the PDA itself, while the blue Dell logo is on the cradle that lights up as soon as you plug in the PDA. It looks really cool!

It rained!

The last few days were really hot and today seemed to be no different. But around lunch time clouds appeared out of no where and within an hour it started raining. Its still raining as I write this post (11 pm).

Bored at work

Stuck at work on a Saturday night is pretty boring, here's my attempt to make the best of it.

I've tried to photograph the kitchen area of my office using the reflection off a bell. The time is 10 pm and I have turned off the overhead lights to avoid overexposure.

The interesting thing is that the reflection on the bell covers about a 270 degree view which I could never have captured otherwise. I think I just found myself a cheap fish-eye lens :)

Walking through Chinatown

Traffic gets stalled quite often in the narrow streets of chinatown. Here's a black & white version of the same photograph

The triangular building is the Wells Fargo building in the Financial district of downtown San Francisco. You can also see the Bay and part of the Bay-bridge at the end of the street.

The name of this young man is Harris and he performed really well that night, his family was sitting right behind me and they were all cheering for him at the top of their lungs :)

SF geometry

My mother gave me a set of wooden blocks when I was in school, they were geometrical shapes in 3D. I used to spend whole afternoons trying to build a perfect skyline using those blocks, plasticene and some matchsticks.

Standing at the intersection of Powell and California street the memory of those fun moments flashed before my eyes once again :)

There is a row of bare naked trees on one side of California street while lush green on the other. I guess I like the way this couple was running on the barren side of the road, it shows commitment and a fighting spirit.

I am too tired to pick a better title right now, this picture is not as sharp as the other pictures because I found a picture-within-a-picture which was better than the original picture I took. So the camera settings are not what they should have been for this kind of photograph.

A different stroke

I always thought of sky as a big blue canvas with clouds as brush strokes and stars as glitter.
(I used a circular polarizer filter with exposure compensation value -0.5 to get the sky deep blue)
