I tried out my Sigma 70-200mm lens on a real person today. Ammar is a friend visiting from out of town and he was kind enough to let me take his photographs. Needless to say, I am very exited!!

Camera policies

The blog at Photoblogs.org has a post about a ban on photography inside the San Francisco MUNI system (buses), and a similar ban inside subways.

I have had a similar experience a short while ago when I was taking pictures of a sunrise from the sidewalk of a freeway bridge in the Bay area. Suddenly two police cars came in from both sides of the street and I was asked to back off from the sidewalk and was questioned for about 40 minutes about what I was doing. I showed them the photographs I took of the sun and there were no traffic or buildings in the pictures. Feeling a little silly, the Police officers told me that even though it is not illegal to take pictures in Public I should avoid taking pictures on bridges and then they went on and on about how some people jump from the freeway bridge and throw cans on the incoming traffic. But the lesson I learnt from the whole episode was that photography is not worth getting in trouble with the Law :)

New apartment

I have started living in the new apartment, but moving all the furniture and my stuff has left me with aching body parts so the moving process has now slowed down to a crawl :(

Update

Due to my professional commitments, travelling, training, apartment hunting and moving to a new apartment. I am unable to post regularly or take photographs (its been raining here for 3 weeks now).

Hopefully, I shall start posting regularly in the first week of Feb.

No pay, no license

I saw this sticker on a self-service automated gas pump in Lexington, Kentucky. I can't think of a way for anyone to get gas from that pump without paying, and there were no video cameras around in that run down pump.

Tsunami size smoothie

Now that's what I call "Bad Taste"!
How come Tsunami size is only 6oz bigger than the Medium size (22oz)?? :)
